This is a programme of training for young people aged 16-18 (or 19-24 with Extended Guarantee) carried out in our very own garage in Kentish Town. It may be for you if you wish to progress into opportunities and occupations in garages, tyre and exhaust specialists, auto-parts suppliers and car dealerships or Apprenticeships and Jobs with training. This is also a great first step for those that are applying for FE College places.

The training programme has been designed to promote awareness of entry requirements of individual vacancies and gain essential skills needed to enter the automotive industry.

Learners gain an understanding of basics of motor vehicle maintenance and repair with cars and motor cycles. They also have an opportunity to cover some of the following:

Foundation level qualifications in vehicle maintenance working towards City and Guilds 4100/01progression award (E2E programme)

Personal Development training, this covers:

  • Understanding the Industry
  • Health and Safety
  • Road Safety
  • Automotive related outings and trips e.g. Brands Hatch
  • Possibility of work placement
  • CV Preparation
  • Interview techniques
  • Making a good application
  • Qualifications in Maths, English and ICT.
  • Support for personal issues which may be affecting your training.
  • Qualification in Personal Development and Employability Skills.
  • Dyslexia Support
  • Help with finding employment, Apprenticeship and FE courses

  • You must be between 16 and 18 years of age
  • Want to work repairing cars or motorbikes If you are 19-24 years of age and want to be considered for this programme you need to contact Connexions to see if you may be eligible for an Extended Guarantee
  • A safe and well equipped environment to train with professional staff
  • Practical hands-on experience repairing and servicing cars
  • Free protective equipment including overalls and boots
  • EMA of £30 per week for 16-18 year old
  • Help and Qualifications in Maths and English
  • Help with finding a positive destination from the programme including Apprenticeships, Jobs with training or College places
